Even though most horses want to be in  the stable during bad weather, it's imperative that they live outdoors as much as possible. It is necessary at times to keep your horse confined in a stall but most of the time it is crucial to your horse's health and well being to be outside.

We also recognize that every horse is unique and that owners may have established relationships with equine professionals they know and trust. Owners are always welcome to use the veterinarian, farrier, equine therapist, or other qualified equine practitioner of their choice.

For Kristen Alire, horses have never simply been a profession—they have been a lifelong passion and the foundation of the horsewoman and trainer she has become. With over 40-years in the saddle, Kristen is an experienced second generation equestrian professional specializing in hunters, jumpers, and equitation, and has experience in eventing, dressage, and cutting. 

She has competed on the A-Circuit within the United States and in Canada and has ridden with many well-known names in the industry including Grand Prix Show Jumper Kristin Hardin, and the late International Eventing rider, Kristi Nunnink.

Kristen’s training philosophy is centered around thoughtful horsemanship, individualized care, and developing confident, capable horses and riders. 

One of Kristen’s greatest strengths is her ability to read and understand the individual horse. She believes successful training begins by listening to what each horse is telling you and recognizing that every horse learns, develops, and responds differently. Rather than forcing horses into a predetermined program or timeline, Kristen adapts her approach to the horse in front of her—taking into consideration their temperament, history, physical needs, confidence, and natural abilities. Her training emphasizes correct flatwork, balance, rideability, confidence, and thoughtful progression over fences. Whether developing a green horse, bringing an experienced horse back into work, preparing a horse and rider for the show ring, or helping rebuild confidence, Kristen believes in creating a solid foundation that will serve the horse throughout their career. She brings that same individualized approach to her riders. Kristen wants her students to become more than effective riders—she wants them to become knowledgeable horsemen and women. Her program emphasizes feel, communication, strong fundamentals, confidence, and understanding the reasoning behind the training rather than simply being told what to do. 

Kristen also has a particular passion and talent for horse selection and matchmaking. She understands that finding the right horse is about far more than impressive movement, jumping ability, or a show record. The best partnerships happen when a horse’s temperament, ability, experience, and personality complement the rider’s goals, riding style, and confidence. Through her network and experience sourcing horses, including connections in Europe, Kristen works to help clients find horses with the potential to become more than just their next mount—her goal is to help riders find their horse of a lifetime.
